For the past few months we’ve been adding minor improvements to our “travel hub”, TheRealPlaces.com. This week we’re unveiling a major overhaul of the hotel portion of the site. Visitors will find much-improved search, comparison and mapping. And the hotel details pages now provide much easier access to photos, maps and reviews. See all the new goodies by using the big search box on our home page or through the main search page (accessible from anywhere on the site via the “Hotels” link button at the top of every page).

Element by Westin is a new division of the well-known Westin chain devoted to providing “extended stay” accommodations while adhering to energy-efficient and eco-friendly design concepts. The latest Element hotel to open is the Element Houston Vintage Park. It’s located on the northwest side of Houston and is part of the new Vintage Park “town center” style retail complex.
In addition to Energy Star rated appliances and a building designed to make maximum use of passive solar energy, the Element Houston Vintage Park has a fully-equipped kitchen, plenty of desk space and very comfy beds to make those extended Houston stays more like home.
The proprietary search engine at our TheRealPlaces.com travel portal makes it easy to find places to stay that fit any need or desire.

We’re still in Scottsdale - at least virtually - occasionally adding more of those great desert golf courses to the list of featured courses at TheGolfNexus.com. This week we’ve been writing about Grayhawk Golf Club (known for its association with Phil Mickelson), Kierland Golf Club (you gotta check out the Westin Kierland Resort Spa and Villas next door!) and Starfire at Scottsdale Country Club (where, despite the “country club” in the name, the golf is offered at a very reasonable price).

Two new “featured” hotels have been added to TheRealPlaces.com this week. It’s back to Las Vegas and we’re hanging around the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Desert Inn Road: the luxurious Wynn Las Vegas and its next-door twin tower, Encore Las Vegas. Both offer access to the Tom Fazio designed Wynn golf course out in “the backyard”.

Appropriately enough for the winter months, the emphasis at The Golf Nexus has stayed on Scottsdale, Arizona golf courses this week. The pages containing information about Talking Stick Golf Club and Troon North Golf Club have been spruced up. Both locations offer spectacular settings for golf and are showcases for the architectural talents of famed golfers Ben Crenshaw and Tom Weiskopf, respectively.

We’re always looking for ways of making TheRealPlaces.com - our popular guide to over 100,000 hotels worldwide - more useful and easier to use. This week we’re “unveiling” a new layout for the hotel pages that presents details in a more compact format and allows us to start adding our own hotel descriptions below the maps.
We’ve only just started writing up hotels, but you can see some of the early results at the pages for Paris Las Vegas and Bellagio, two of the hotels located conveniently at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip.

The Golf Nexus, our comprehensive guide to the golf courses of the United States, is undergoing some changes prior to the 2009 golf season. The home page has been streamlined a bit, with some more changes coming in the near future.
Also added this week were two new “featured golf courses” in popular golf destination Scottsdale, Arizona. Gainey Ranch is an exclusive 27 hole private club in the center of Scottsdale. Desert Mountain features six golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and some of the most spectacular golf terrain in the world.

Our guide to the hotels of Ocean City, Maryland - TheRealOceanCity.com - has been redesigned to more effectively provide information about the best available hotels for Maryland’s popular resort destination. Multiple resources are now linked for each of the hotels list on the site.
The Real Ocean City is part of our growing network of travel-oriented web properties. Many of those are also undergoing redevelopment and we’ll announce those changes here as they occur.
